Bahrain table
This spectacular circular conference table was specially commissioned for the summit conference of the Gulf Co-Operation
Council held in Bahrain at the end of 1994. The table, designed by Pierre Yves Rochon of Paris, measured over 6 metres in
diameter and consisted of seven spacious seating areas, one for each of the rulers of the Arab states.
The centre of the table was fitted with a specially cast hemisphere of the Earth with the land masses and oceans of the Gulf areas
picked out in coloured relief. The whole project was completed in three months, an exceptionally demanding delivery schedule for
such a piece, and was flown out protected in specially constructed crates to arrive in Bahrain exactly on time where it was
installed by Arthur Brett's own specialist staff.
